Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour 2025 – Thanks for Coming Visiting!

The 2025 Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour was December 6 & 7, 2025. Next year’s tour will be on Saturday and Sunday, December 5th & 6th 2026.

STOP #2: Doug Heck at Doug’s Turnings – 3300 Whippoorwill Drive, Taneytown, MD 21787

I’m glad to be a part of the Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour. This is a group of talented, local artists. Please plan time to visit a few of the studios and be inspired. Better yet, visit them all! I’m Stop #2 on the Carroll County Artists’ Studio Tour. For more information about the tour, visit:

Stop by my shop and chat about wood, learning how to turn, about equipment and about other things I make for folks. We can chat about my process of acquiring and processing wood for turning and for other projects.

Open Shop Dates

I work in the shop on various projects on a regular basis. You are welcome to stop by and see what’s happening, make purchases and ask questions. It is best to contact me via phone, text or email to make sure I am available. My contact information is in the footer, below.

Turning Classes

I provide classes where you can Learn to Turn. Click here to read more about classes. Reach out to me to chat about classes and schedule a time.

Purchase a Learn to Turn Gift Certificate here – date to be coordinated between the student and Doug.

If you already know the basics, but are looking to improve your technique, please contact me to discuss your turning ability and goals for improvement. I certainly don’t know everything, but I do enjoy helping others improve their abilities. Send me a few photos of what you are turning; top, bottom and side views; or stop by with some of your work. That’s the best way for me to assess whether I can help. I can schedule a dedicated time to address what we can do together.

Stay Healthy and Look for Round Stuff

In the mean time, please stay safe and healthy. Keep an eye out for all the things that are made in the round. It is amazing the number of useful things that can be made on a lathe. See a few turned items here
